Aspects to Note When Choosing Oil Tank Level Sensors

September 02, 2020

If you are a oil truck driver, how do you know the situation of the content inside your truck tank? Oil tank level sensors nowadays are widely used so you can detect and measures the tank fills, leaks, oil level, oil temperature, air locks and etc. Because oil tanks always contain such hazardous liquids such as gasoline or diesel, the safety must be considered as the most important point. And a lot of aspects should be paid attention to.

Aspects to consider for selecting oil tank level sensors

Thanks to new developed special cables and parts made of high-alloyed stainless steel, oil tank level sensors have anti-explosion function so they can be safely applied in oil tanks. Most of them on the markets have specially made blue cables, which represents their anti-explosive function and distinguishes them from normal non-anti-explosive styles which always use black cables. PTFE cables are recommended to use to prevent corrosion and friction that might result to explosion. Generally, the housing of sensors use stainless steel (304SS or 316SS) cause they won’t corrode or react in such liquids.

Besides, make sure oil tank level sensors are all welded and sealed, to ensure the safety for oil measurement. Moreover, the remote monitor of oil tank level sensors would preferably provide highly accurately readings and convenient operations since oil tanks have to be kept monitoring, so that it is easy to remotely monitor tank levels, track inventory, spot problem and automatically track injection rates based on actual oil volumes.
