Capacitance Level Sensor: How it works and Advantages

December 18, 2019

Looking for a BEST capacitive level sensor for measuring diesel, oil or liquid is not as hard as you think. Obviously, in a wide variety of industrial sensors, the capacitive level sensor might be just what you are look'in for.

How it works?

Capacitive level sensors are operated by two electrodes forming a capacitor, often in the form of two parallel metal plates with insulating (non-conductive or “dielectric”) material separating them. In the most basic sense, capacitors store electrostatic energy in an electric field. The capacitor’s ability to store this energy (a measurement known as "capacitance") increases as voltage is applied to the circuit, and as the volume of insulating material increases, but in fact, to measure variations in the capacitance, electric energy flowing into and out of the electrodes is measured as the voltage or potential is varied. This flow of energy is created by connecting the electrodes to an alternating current measurement circuit. The greater the energy flow to the electrodes, the greater the capacitance, meaning more dielectric between the electrodes.

What is the advantage of capacitive level sensor?

Meanwhile, it can also be designed as a concetric tube and rod, with the advantage of good impact resistance, convenient installation, high reliability, high precision, and stable performance. It can not only be installed on various occasions requiring precise level measuring of gasoline, diesel, water and hydraulic oil, etc, but also be Application for measuring of various non-conductive liquids. As engineered in the capacitive level sensors of Holykell.
