How Does Submersible Water Level Sensor Works?

Aug 11 , 2023

Submersible water level sensor is widely used in industrial environment because of its unique advantages. Especially it is not only measure the liquid in tanks and the deep well environment, but also ensure the measurement accuracy is very high. These are not available to pressure sensors.

But how does submersible water level sensor works? compared with other types of liquid level sensors, what are its advantages and disadvantages?

The submersible water level sensor consists of a sensor attached to a long cable and lowered to the bottom of the liquid container. The sensor works by measuring the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid medium. The hydrostatic pressure level measured by the sensor is determined by two factors: the density and height of the liquid. The variation of hydrostatic pressure reflects the difference of liquid level under the condition that liquid density remains constant. Atmospheric conditions that affect the pressure on the liquid line affect the hydrostatic pressure and liquid level at the bottom of the container. In ventilated or non-pressurized vessel applications with variations in atmospheric pressure, the submersible water level sensor is therefore equipped with ventilation compensation devices to maintain the integrity of hydrostatic pressure readings.

In addition, this submersible water level sensor adopts IP68 fully sealed plastic waterproof design and 316L stainless steel diaphragm to ensure that users can maintain a high accuracy no matter measuring the level of the tank or the level of the deep well, the length of PTFE cable can be customized .
