How to Select the Installation Position of Differential Pressure Transmitters

January 04, 2023

Differential pressure transmitter is a common device to measure the differential pressure. To effectively perform measurement, the installation position is very important. What we should be noted when installing them?

1. Corrosive or overheated media should not contact with differential pressure transmitters.

2. Prevent settlement in the pressure pipe.

3. The hydraulic heads in the two pressure pipes should be kept in balance.

4. The pressure pipe should be as short as possible.

5. The pressure pipe should be installed in a place where the temperature gradient and temperature fluctuation are small.

6. Measuring liquid flow: The pressure port should be opened on the side of the process pipeline to avoid sediment. The differential pressure transmitter should be installed on the side or below the pressure tap so that the gas can be discharged into the process pipe.

7. Measuring gas flow: The pressure port should be opened on the top or side of the process pipeline, and the differential pressure transmitter should be installed below the pressure port so that the liquid can be discharged into the process pipeline. 8. Measuring steam flow: The pressure port should be opened on the top or side of the process pipeline, and the transmitter should be installed below the pressure port so that the condensate can flow into the pressure pipe.

9. When using a transmitter with an exhaust/drain valve on the side, the pressure port should be opened on the side of the process pipe. When the medium is liquid, the exhaust valve should be on the top to remove the gas; when the medium is gas, the valve should be on the bottom to remove the accumulated liquid.

Actually except the installation, the correct product selection and maintenance of different pressure transmitters are also important. Contact Holykell Now for more technical instructions.
